Bluebird Lawn Seeder & Seeding Tips

Seeder unit holds approx.
20 lbs. of seed.

The patented Delta Reel
is standard equipment.

Seeder unit with top open.

The BlueBird Lawn Seeder is not a "thatcher." Because seed must have contact with soil to germinate, excess thatch should be removed with a BlueBird Lawn Comber before overseeding. The Delta Reel blades (shown above) plant the seeds by slicing them into the soil. The heavy neoprene deflector at the rear smooths the soil so the seed is covered and the area being seeded is not torn up.   Lawn experts use the Delta Reel throughout the growing season as a turf slicer. The 1/8" wide slits spaced 2" apart keep the soil open to allow for rapid absorption of water, oxygen and fertilizer. The swept back, beveled blades do not tear the grass. This application is very beneficial when used on terraces and sloping lawns where water runoff is a problem.

Seeding Tips

1. To avoid unattractive "rows" effect of new grass, it is recommended to overseed in one direction, then "cross-cut" at approximately 45 degrees from the first run.

2. Using this procedure, the seed drop setting should be set at 1/2 the recommended application rate per 1,000 square feet. The result will be a very even, eye-appealing new growth of healthy grass.

1. Seed drops from seed hopper in front
of Delta Reel blades, which cut slits and
incorporate seed into the soil. Neoprene
flap at rear of machine gently covers seed
with thin layer of soil.

2. For best results, make a second applica-
tion by operating the lawn seeder ar a 45
degree angle to the first pass.

3. After germinating, grass sprouts
will disguise the "cross-hatch"
pattern.
